Defining the Deaf Experience

Title: Defining the Deaf Experience
Description: DYUSA (Deaf Youth USA,
dyusa.org ) is a national organization that has been set up in the past few
years to give Deaf youth between the ages of 18-30s a more united voice and
to encourage self-empowerment.

Chapters are currently being set up across the United States and we want to
set one up here in Rochester, but not without the voice of the overall deaf
community, which includes RIT, RSD, Rochester Deaf Club, Rochester Deaf
Mothers, Interpreters, Family members of deaf youth, CI users, Oral deaf,
and many more.

The chapter’s name is Rochester Signing Youth (RocSY).

The very first event that we’re having is in a week and half from today,
entitled “Defining the Deaf Experience.”

We want to get a flavor of every part of the community out there to come
and have their voice heard. This means every single deaf person, young and
old (older ones know some younger ones, so help can be passed on here, if
possible!)
